About the artist

Pankhuri is a Jaipur-born, London-based artist whose creative practice emerges from the intersection of social justice and intuitive expression. As a refugee and migrants' rights lawyer specializing in women's rights advocacy, she channels the complexities of her professional world into restorative abstract art that deliberately breaks free from the constraints of perfectionism.

Her artistic journey is deeply rooted in trauma-informed practice, offering both herself and her viewers a space for healing and reflection. Through fluid forms and intuitive mark-making, Pankhuri consciously resists concrete shapes and predetermined patterns, allowing each piece to evolve naturally as a testament to freedom of expression. This approach serves as a powerful antidote to the structured demands of her legal work, creating a harmonious balance between her advocacy and artistic pursuits.

In 2023, Pankhuri's unique perspective earned her a place at the prestigious V&A's Rest and Reflection retreat, marking a significant milestone in her artistic journey. Her work has garnered recognition both in the UK and internationally, with multiple solo exhibitions in India establishing her presence across continents.

Working from her London studio, Pankhuri continues to explore the liberating potential of abstract art, creating pieces that speak to themes of migration, identity, and emotional restoration. Her dual practice as a rights advocate and artist offers a rare insight into how creativity can serve as both a personal healing tool and a broader commentary on social justice.
